Management

James Kelly, President and CEO
Mr. Kelly is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company. Previously, he was the founder, president and CEO of SynXis, a leading hotel reservation management software provider acquired by Sabre Corporation. He is a former Vice President, International, of BDM, an 8,000-person technical services firm now a part of Northrop Grumman. He also served as International Programs Vice President at SAIC and before that was Deputy Assistant Secretary, Africa the Near East and South Asia, under Secretary Malcolm Baldrige in the second Reagan administration. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech, where he serves on the business school advisory board, and the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird).

Vijay Patel, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Patel is responsible for the long-term financial planning and day-to-day financial management of Flight Explorer. He brings to the company more than 11 years of financial management experience in the telecommunications industry. Prior to joining Flight Explorer, Mr. Patel was the associate director of finance at Startec Global Communications Corporation. Mr. Patel’s experience also includes positions at World Wide Telecom, LLC and Reznick, Fedder & Silverman. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland, with a B.S. in accounting.

Beth Conord, Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer
Ms. Conord is responsible for contracts, consultants, government relations, legal support and human resources at Flight Explorer including the administrative support of all Flight Explorer Departments. She brings to Flight Explorer more than fifteen years of experience in the telecommunications and software industries. Prior to joining Flight Explorer, Ms. Conord was a senior marketing manager for Cable & Wireless and before that was a senior marketing manager of Columbia Energy Services. Prior to Columbia, Conord was a manager of competitive analysis for MCI WorldCom. Ms. Conord's experience also includes positions at Raxco, Inc and Andersen Consulting (now Accenture). She is a graduate of San Diego State University, with a B.S. in marketing, and holds an MBA from the University of Maryland.

Mike Wambsganss, Chief Scientist
Mr. Wambsganss is responsible for for the integration of the FAA’s Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) tools into the Flight Explorer Professional Aircraft Situational Display (ASD) system and will also assist in developing FE’s strategic vision. Wambsganss, a graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, is an operations research analyst with over 30 years experience in military and civil aviation. He is known in the civil aviation field principally for his work while at Metron Aviation, Inc., where he served as the Chief Executive Officer until July 2006. Wambsganss is among the original founders of CDM, having personally developed many of the original concepts that formed its foundation and has continued to be a major creative force in the development and refinement of the CDM concept.

Chris Zanardi, Vice President, Marketing and Sales
Mr. Zanardi is responsible for the overall management of the sales, marketing and public relations programs for Flight Explorer’s core business aviation and consumer products. He brings to Flight Explorer more than twelve years of marketing and sales experience in the telecommunications, software and environmental industries. Prior to joining Flight Explorer, Mr. Zanardi was director of marketing at LightStream Technologies. Mr. Zanardi’s experience also includes positions at Wired Business and RMS Technologies. He is a graduate of Gettysburg College, with a B.A. in business management, and holds an M.S. in Management from the University of Maryland University College.

Shawn Mechelke, Vice President, Operations
Mr. Mechelke is responsible for the operations division of the company based in Tyrone, Georgia. Prior to joining Flight Explorer he spent thirteen years working as a dispatcher, supervisor, and manager in the flight operations department at ATA Airlines, the tenth largest major United States air carrier. During his tenure at ATA Airlines, Mr. Mechelke managed all operational and technical programs directly related to flight operations and the System Operations Control Center. Mr. Mechelke is a graduate of the University of North Dakota - John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences, with a B.S. in Aeronautical Studies and Minor in Meteorology. He is also a graduate of the Sheffield School of Aeronautics. He holds FAA licenses as an aircraft dispatcher and commercial pilot with instrument rating.

Arnaud Voermans, Vice President, Software Development
Mr. Voermans is responsible for the timely delivery of the Flight Explorer products to the marketplace while ensuring the highest standards of quality and reliability. Mr. Voermans began his career as a programmer analyst for Dimensions International where he developed radar analysis software for the FAA. He then relocated to California to work for an incubated start-up company, Flashcards.com, where his responsibility for the implementation of emerging Macromedia technology into the product architecture eventually grew into the management of the development team. Mr. Voermans is a graduate of the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey with Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Computer Science.

Jeff Scozzafava, Vice President and Chief Technical Officer
Mr. Scozzafava is currently Vice President and Chief Technical Officer at Flight Explorer. He has over 20 years of experience with hardware and software architecture, design, engineering and development. Prior to Flight Explorer, Mr. Scozzafava held senior positions at RLM Technologies, Data Transformation Corporation and Atlantic Science & Technologies. He has 15 years of experience with air traffic control operations, software and systems, telephony switching systems, packet and circuit switched communications technologies, digital hardware design, and printed circuit board computer aided design, layout, and manufacturing. Mr. Scozzafava has taught software design and development at the college level for the past 12 years and studied electrical and computer engineering at Drexel University.

Michael Brandes, Managing Director Europe
Mr. Brandes is responsible for the development of Flight Explorers’ business in Europe and the management of related activities including acquisition of European data services. He is a former Vice President of IABG, a 1,200-person technical services firm based in Germany. He has more than 30 years experience in civil aviation. Mr. Brandes also served as Programme Manager for traffic and communication systems at ESG (Munich). Further experience includes positions at Trend Micro (Munich) and Red Cube (Zurich). For many years Mr. Brandes was a consultant to the German ATC authority (DFS) in ICAO standardization work such as Mode S or ATN. He is a graduate of the Technical University in Braunschweig and holds a Ph.D. in electronics/telecommunication.

John M. Miller, Special Assistant
General Miller serves as Special Assistant to the Flight Explorer CEO for government-related security and international projects. He is a retired Air Force Major General who during his career has been responsible for aircraft maintenance and Engineering operations, acquisition and logistics planning and global flight operations for the Air Mobility Command. Additionally, he is a retired Senior Captain of the Ford Motor Company with over 18,000 total flight hours. He is rated in 8 types of turbine aircraft including the Gulfstream V(C-37) and helicopters. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering and an MBA in Finance.
