Flight Explorer Announces Enhanced Version of "Flight Explorer Select Edition" Aircraft Tracking Software With View of Three Airports
Arlington, VA – March 31, 2003 – Flight Explorer®, the world's leading provider of Internet-based real-time flight tracking and information systems, today announced an enhanced version of its Flight Explorer Select Edition® software platform designed for specific aviation industry segments.
Flight Explorer Select Edition provides an easy-to-use, powerful and focused view of the air traffic picture most valuable to the customer. The latest enhancement allows customers to view all arriving and departing flights at three airports of the customers' choosing. The previous version - launched in June 2002 -- allowed air traffic at only a single airport to be displayed. Fixed-base operators (FBOs), one of the key segments attracted to the product, often need to see the air traffic at neighboring airports. This prompted the enhancement. FBOs are companies that perform corporate/private aircraft servicing and ground handling services at airports for scheduled, non-scheduled and chartered airlines.
"Aviation industry response to Flight Explorer Select Edition over the past year has been very strong," said Walt Kross, CEO of Flight Explorer. "The people who depend on it every day give us valuable information on ways to make it more effective. The enhanced version of this product reflects input from those customers and other sources, and we're excited to make it available."
Flight Explorer Select Edition provides many of the key features of the company's flagship product, Flight Explorer Professional®. Also, the enhanced version will continued to be offered at the very attractive price of only $59/month. This enhancement is available to all existing Flight Explorer Select Edition customers at no additional charge.
Many of the most popular features from Flight Explorer Professional are included in Flight Explorer Select Edition:
Flight Alert™ System - Extensive event system generates alerts via voice, e-mail, wireless devices, on-screen event list, and PC audio. Alerts can be generated on aircraft status such as arrival, departure, a change in ETA or flight plan and proximity to destination or user-defined alert areas.
Graphical TFRs - a graphical display of Temporary Flight Restrictions.
Extensive List of User Defined View™ Settings - All displays can be customized and saved as user-defined views. By defining multiple views, users can very quickly switch between any combination of aircraft, zoom levels, overlays, weather and more.
Weather Overlay - National Weather Service fronts, weather depiction, radar summary, and 2 km national NEXRAD mosaic (available for an additional charge).
Coast Mode - Shows the projected position of an aircraft between actual updates using the previous heading and speed information.
Follow Me feature - Follow an individual flight from takeoff to landing with automatic on-screen adjustments.
